Serving the Word: 17th January

MONDAY 17th JANUARY 2022

Mark 2, 18-22:

“No one puts new wine into old wineskins; for the skins burst, and the wine and the skins are lost; new wine into new wineskins.”

To give us an understanding of the relationship that Jesus has with us, today’s Gospel uses the symbol of a wedding feast.

It is a relationship in which there is joy, hope, rejoicing, etc.  Being with Jesus Christ is always like being at a wedding, accompanying the bridegroom, who is himself, and therefore savouring that moment of rejoicing, hope and joy.

Being with Jesus can never lead to sadness, but quite the opposite.

Pope Francis tells us that with Jesus joy is always born and reborn.

May your joy not come from the superficial or from the ephemeral, but from your own deep and profound relationship with Jesus Christ.

The deeper and more profound your relationship with Jesus, the deeper and more profound your joy will be.

Good day.
