FRIDAY 14th MAY 2021
John 15, 9-17:
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
The only thing that saves us is the love of God. We are not saved by our merits, nor are we saved by our strength.
The only thing that saves us is the tenderness of a Father who loves us dearly and who always has his arms open to welcome us, to forgive us and to show us mercy.
Of course, our collaboration is also necessary and essential.
The love of the Father must be the measure of the love of the children.
Jesus repeats this very clearly in today’s Gospel: “as I have loved you”.
This love is translated into the concrete, in the day to day, in the most ordinary part of our lives.
Most of us will not be called to great heroics. But it takes more of a hero’s mettle to love in every moment than to love only on great occasions.
Besides, we won’t know how to love on the big occasions if we don’t know how to love in the smallest things of life.
Practice today to love in the practical and in the small occasions that come your way during the course of the day.
Good day.
