Luke 15, 1-10:
“If one of you has a hundred sheep, if he loses one, does he not leave the ninety and nine in the field and go after the lost one until he finds it? And, when he finds it, he carries it on his shoulders, very happy”.
The publicans and sinners listen while the pharisees and scribes murmur.
I like to listen to the words of Jesus who openly puts himself on the side of the sinner represented by this lost sheep.
I like to contemplate the reactions of Jesus motivated by this lost sheep:
1: He leaves the ninety and nine in the field.
2: He goes in search of the lost one.
3: He doesn’t stop till he finds it.
4: He carries it on his shoulders.
5: Very happy, he brings together friends and neighbors and invites them to congratulate him because he has found the sheep that was lost.
I like to contemplate these reactions of Jesus because they immerse me in the infinite mercy of God the Father.
The Father loves those of us who are lost and continually seeks anyone who strays from the path. Imagine today that you are sheep and shepherd:
+ Sheep because you need of the mercy of the Good Shepherd.
+ Shepherd because you also have to search for your brothers who are more lost.
