Serving the Word: Lk 10: 1-9

FRIDAY 14 FEBRUARY

Luke 10, 1-9:
“The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest. Get going!

We recently made the following commentary on this reading today:
Today too, as in Jesus’ time, the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few.
Even without knowing it, our world hungers and thirsts for God because it hungers and thirsts for peace and justice, forgiveness and mercy, goodness and beauty, love and acceptance.
Our world is like an immense cornfield that is waiting for God’s rain because it is dying of thirst.
And it is waiting for workers who will set out to overcome the obstacles, putting in all their effort, ready not to stop, very lightly loaded and not afraid of tiredness.
Get on the road today!
Be in tune with the whole Church which, following Pope Francis wants to live “going forth”!
We do not evangelize from paralysis and with our arms crossed calmly sitting in an office or an armchair. We evangelize by going out of ourselves and setting out on a journey. Let us also ask the owner of the harvest to send workers into his harvest.
And offer yourself wholeheartedly to be one of them.
Good day.
