THURSDAY 7TH DECEMBER 2023
Matthew 7, 21. 24-27
“Whoever hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like the wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods rose, the winds blew and beat against the house, but it did not collapse, because it was built on rock”.
Advent is gradually bringing us closer to Christmas. And the whirlwind of these days can be a good indicator to know and realise the foundations on which the structure of our life is built.
If for you the most important things are business or family meals, gifts, lights, parties and so many other things that conceal the true meaning of Christmas, it means that your life of faith is being built on sand and not on solid rock.
There is always time to take care of our spiritual life and to keep building it on solid rock. Be faithful to your daily prayer, to your daily encounter with the Word, to your frequent living of the Eucharist. Celebrate the sacrament of Penance during this time of Advent. Make yourself during this time more attentive and closer to the people who suffer, who are hungry, who need you.
May this time of Advent help you to be like the wise man in the Gospel who built his house on rock.
