Serving the Word: 26th July

MONDAY 26th JULY 2021

Matthew 13, 31-35:

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed…the kingdom of heaven is like leaven”.

We return to the commentary we have made on this same Gospel on other occasions.

And we return to the little things. To the tiny mustard seeds and the yeast that ferments the dough.

To what is barely seen but felt and noticed when it is missing.

It is the little things, the smiles given, the hugs that truly express affection, a word of encouragement, blessing and comfort….

These small things are what build the Kingdom of God because they are like that little bit of yeast that makes the dough ferment.

They are also like that small brick which is insignificant in the construction of a gigantic tower but which is essential for its construction.

Pray today with this passage from the Gospel and ask the Lord again that you will listen today to his call to be a mustard seed or leaven wherever you are, so that through you the Kingdom of God may grow.

Good day.
