THURSDAY 24th JUNE 2021
Luke 1, 57-66.80:
“Elizabeth’s time came for her to give birth, and she gave birth to a son…. John is his name… the hand of the Lord was with him”.
We only celebrate the birth of the Virgin Mary and the birth of St. John the Baptist.
Today, 24 June, is the feast of the birth of St. John the Baptist.
John was sanctified already in the womb of his mother Elizabeth.
Elizabeth gives birth to a child who was to be called John. A child who belongs to the Lord.
John is destined to go on new paths and is chosen for a specific mission: to be the Forerunner of the Saviour and to bring a message of love and hope from God: “The Lord is near”. You too are called to bring this good news to the whole world.
You too are called to prepare the ways of the Lord so that the Lord may be present in every person, in every event and at every moment of history.
Ask the Lord today that, like John the Baptist, you may always proclaim by word and deed the salvation that Jesus brings us.
We congratulate all of you who bear the name of John or Joan.
Good day.
