THURSDAY 21st SEPTEMBER 2023
Matthew 9, 9-13
“As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax counter, and he said to him, “Follow me”. He got up and followed him.
We all have our “tax counter”. We sit at it and from it we “bill” everyone because we believe that everyone is our debtor. Jesus today teaches us to “stand up” and leave our “tax counter”.
Stop believing that everyone owes you and that they have to be grateful to you. The important thing is to follow Jesus in leaving our “taxes” to others.
Like Matthew, you too offer a banquet in which you serve gratitude and thankfulness without measure, and may this banquet last all your days.
May this banquet be the expression of your joy at having been called by Jesus.
You will surely feel happy. Because in that way, Jesus will also sit at your table and will multiply in abundance all that you give freely and gratefully.
