Serving the Word: 18th December

SATURDAY 18th DECEMBER 2021

Matthew 1, 18-24:

“Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary to be your wife, for the child that is in her is of the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins”.

The figure of St. Joseph could not be missing from Advent. Today he appears on the scene as he always appears in the Gospel: open to the ways of the Lord.

Joseph is the man who sees, believes, suffers, keeps silent, waits and obeys. Different paths would pass through his mind. But when he saw the path that God marked out for him, because he needed it, he did not hesitate to commit himself and accept his will with all the consequences.

Joseph assumed in faith that God was at work in his life and in Mary’s life, and he lived this mysterious reality with gratitude.

Ask the Lord, through the intercession of St. Joseph, that you may always accept his plans and realise them every day in your life.

And also ask St. Joseph to help you prepare for Christmas with the same affection as he prepared for the birth of Jesus.

Good day.
