FRIDAY 17th DECEMBER 2021
Matthew 1, 1-17:
“And Jacob begot Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.”
Today’s Gospel wants to show us that Jesus is fully human.
Like every human being, he has a genealogy. Generations follow one after the other until we reach the direct ancestors of Jesus.
Jesus Christ is one of us. He wanted to become flesh, to become man and to pitch his tent in our midst.
He placed his arrival in a village, in a family, in a particular time and place. Nothing that is authentically human was foreign to him. Nothing that is authentically human is indifferent to him.
Ask the Lord that you too may feel very human. May nothing of what people experience, suffer and hope for be indifferent to you.
May you have a heart of flesh that is attuned to everything that has to do with being human. May you also take charge of your world in order to save it.
Good day.
