On 29 June, a momentous day was celebrated by the Granada community, as four of its members marked the golden jubilees of their priestly ordination. In an atmosphere of communion and fraternity, a solemn Eucharist took place at the Parish of the Holy Spirit in Granada, coinciding with the feast of the Apostles Peter and Paul. The Mass was presided over by the Bishop Emeritus of Humahuaca, Pedro Olmedo, accompanied by the four missionary brothers who shared in the emotion, joy, and ministry: Fathers José Luis González Izquierdo, José Mª Rastrojo, Vicente Cuadrado, and Pablo Olmedo.
Beside them was the entire Granada care community and a fervent, warm assembly singing hymns of thanksgiving for so much dedication and service—four times fifty, equalling two hundred years of mission.
The celebration was simple and heartfelt, calm and peaceful, marked by the wisdom of years and the spirit of those who know they have given their all. Although the world may not have changed, they have contributed to improving personal and community relationships, which are the foundation for building a more humane and supportive world. With great spontaneity and strength, the hymn was sung: “Thank you, oh Mother, for the vocation received.”
During the meal, the reality of a multicultural and intergenerational Province was celebrated, with young, adult, and mature members representing what this missionary Congregation has been, is, and will be—if it remains faithful to its charism as conceived by Saint Anthony Mary Claret.
