Our Parish of the Heart of Mary (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) undertook a beautiful pilgrimage through Catalonia, following in the footsteps of Claret. It was a week filled with gestures, catechesis, encounters, and profound moments of prayer, celebration, and fraternity.
From 13 to 18 October 2025, under the coordination of our parish priest, Fr. Santi Cerrato, and guided throughout the pilgrimage by Fr. Juan Carlos Martos —who lives in Vic and serves in congregational ministries— we experienced a true week of faith, whose ultimate fruit was BEING ABLE TO WATER OUR ROOTS OF FAITH AND CLARETIAN HERITAGE.
Staying at our house of spirituality in Vic as our base, we walked on the very soil where Claret was formed, ordained, and founded the Congregation — the beautiful city of Vic.
On an impressive day full of sounds, colours, and nature, we entered the majestic Cathedral of Barcelona and marvelled at the awe-inspiring Sagrada Família.
Thursday was the Marian Day: we prayed the Rosary at Fusimaña, celebrated the Eucharist in the Benedictine monastery alongside the monks and the Virgin of Montserrat, and visited in detail the birthplace and family home of “El Padrito” — Claret — in Sallent.
Friday, the penitential day, invited us to embrace pain and suffering and to welcome the Lord’s immense mercy for each of us. The story of the Martyrs of Barbastro —a source of pride for our Congregation—, the celebration and walk along the path where they were martyred, and the profession of the Creed beside their remains in the crypt of our house in Barbastro, turned the day into a genuine spiritual exercise of grace.
The evaluation, personal reflections shared by each participant, and a small closing celebration brought to a close a pilgrimage that, in everyone’s words, was truly a gift from God.
