From 29 October to 1 November, a delegation of the leadership teams from the five Claretian schools of the Province of Fatima, together with the Prefect of Apostolate, took part in the Jubilee of the World of Education, organised by the Dicastery for Culture and Education in Rome, as part of the Jubilee Year 2025 convoked by the Pope.
This Jubilee was a deeply ecclesial and Claretian experience of encounter, communion, and educational reflection, in which we were present as a living part of the Church that educates, accompanies, and transforms.
One of the most significant moments was the Pope’s audience with educators in St Peter’s Square, where he encouraged teachers to be “sowers of hope” and “creators of communities of meaning,” reminding everyone that “true education is not only the transmission of knowledge, but a pilgrimage of personal and communal transformation.”
In his message, the Pope offered a true compass for the educational mission, built around four essential coordinates: interiority, as a space for listening and discernment; unity, which connects thought, heart, and action; love, as the foundation of every educational relationship; and joy, as the fruit of those who educate from hope and service.
Another particularly valuable moment was the workshop reflecting on the educational and pastoral responses that Claretian schools are offering in particularly challenging contexts: areas affected by armed conflict, realities marked by poverty, religious persecution, attention to ethnic minorities, presence in refugee camps, and environments where fundamental rights are under threat.
From that global perspective, we reflected on how, from our own provincial context, we can also continue to create “maps of hope” within our schools. It was a truly enriching experience that helped us to focus on what is essential and to rediscover the profound meaning of our educational mission.
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the General Curia of the Claretian Missionaries, and to Fr. José Enrique García, CMF, for their warm hospitality, care, and attention during our days in Rome.
