IV Provincial Pedagogical Encounter of the Claretian Schools of Fatima in Portugal

On November 15, 16 and 17 in Vila Nova de Gaia (Carvalhos, Porto, Portugal), the IV Provincial Pedagogical Encounter of the Claretian Schools of the Province of Fatima took place, an enriching encounter that counted with the presence of 25 teachers of the five schools of the Province (Colégio Internato dos Carvalhos (CIC), Colégio Internato Claret, Claret Las Palmas, Claret Don Benito and Claret Sevilla) and that revolved around the theme “The Teacher of the XXI Century: Essential Competences for Educational Success”.

The meeting featured high quality speakers who explored 21st century education in digital competence, spirituality, creative thinking and the importance of an inclusive school. During the meeting, the crucial role of the teacher in today’s competency-based education was highlighted, emphasising the need to adapt to a digital world, foster spirituality, promote creative thinking and create an inclusive classroom environment.

These working days not only stood out for the high professional level and quality of their presentations, but also for creating an environment conducive to exchange between schools.

It is hoped that this experience will encourage teachers to place students at the centre of their learning, providing a comprehensive and up-to-date education that continually seeks excellence.

We join in the participants’ words of thanks to the good work, love and care of the two host schools, Internato Claret and Internato dos Carvalhos. Their dedication allowed the event to run in an efficient and welcoming manner for all participants, providing an environment conducive to learning and collaboration. Thank you for making this enriching experience possible for the Claretian educational community.
