Amai Vorugare Mission (Zimbabwe). The Diocese of Gokwe and the Claretian Missionaries celebrated on August 29th the priestly ordination of Austin Sayira, CMF. The Mass, which took place at Amai Vorugare Mission at 10:00 a.m., brought together the ordaining bishop, the entire Claretian community of Zimbabwe, diocesan priests, religious, family members, and local parishioners. The celebration was also attended by a delegation from the Provincial Government of the Province of Fatima, comprising Fr. Jorge Sánchez, CMF (Provincial Superior) and Fr. José Enrique García Rizo, CMF (Prefect of Economy).
During the ordination rite, Fr Austin made his promises of obedience, prostrated during the Litany of the Saints, and received the laying on of hands and the sacerdotal anointing that incorporated him into the presbyterate. The readings for the celebration (Num 6:22–27; 1 Jn 4:7–16; Mt 16:13–20) highlighted the call to service, blessing, and following Christ, reminding all that the priesthood is, above all, a vocation of humble self-giving to the community.
As a Claretian Missionary, Fr Austin begins his ministry charged with proclaiming the Word of God, accompanying communities with missionary zeal, and paying special attention to those in vulnerable situations or on the peripheries.
The event was also a fine example of teamwork between the diocese, the congregation, and the volunteers of the Amai Vorugare Mission, whose organization enabled everyone to experience a festive day of deep community spirit.
