On 4 October, the Shrine of the Heart of Mary in Carvalhos-Pedroso (Portugal) hosted the celebration of the perpetual profession of Student Vítor Emanuel Magalhães Barbosa, who is currently assigned to the Carvalhos-College community.
The Eucharist was presided over by Fr Carlos Candeias, Provincial Superior, and was attended by many Claretian Missionaries from the communities of Carvalhos and Tondela, as well as by Fr Félix J. Martínez, Provincial Prefect of Formation. Vítor was also accompanied by his family, friends, and people close to the Claretian Missionaries, who joined joyfully in this meaningful moment of his consecrated life.
A native of Vitorino de Piães – Ponte de Lima (Portugal), 30-year-old Vítor began his journey in the Congregation in 2015, when he entered the Postulancy in Carvalhos. In 2017 he did his Novitiate in Granada (Spain) and made his first profession in 2018, in Carvalhos. Between 2018 and 2023, he continued his formation in Granada, where he studied Theology at the Faculty of Theology of Loyola University.
Since 2023, Vítor has been part of the Carvalhos community, where he teaches at Colégio Internato dos Carvalhos, collaborates with the Vocational Youth Ministry Team of Portugal, and, since this academic year, has been pursuing a Master’s degree in Education.
“The step I took on 4 October is born from God’s faithful love for me — a love that has transformed me and taught me to trust. I feel moved by that love which calls me to respond with dedication and openness. I want my life to be a reflection of that love, becoming a gift for others. Making perpetual profession is saying ‘yes’ to a God who loved me first and who sends me to love as He loves.”
