MONDAY 19th JUNE 2023
Matthew 5, 38-42:
“I, however, say to you”.
Jesus corrects the old law of “an eye for an eye” and “a tooth for a tooth” and goes further.
He tells us to turn the other cheek when we have been struck on one cheek.
To give without measure to the one who asks and not to change course when we see it coming.
To forgive always and unconditionally.
That we respond to evil with good.
And other such things that call into question our ordinary way of acting.
Jesus wants us to learn the logic of generosity, of Christian charity.
He wants us to work to make his Gospel really GOOD NEWS more and more present in our world.
Do your bit to change yourself.
And also work to change the scale of values that surrounds us for the scale of values of Jesus.
