TUESDAY 6th DECEMBER 2022
Matthew 18, 12-14:
“Jesus said to his disciples, “Suppose a man has a hundred sheep: if one of them is lost, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountain and go and look for the lost one?….. So does your Father in heaven: he does not want even one of these little ones to go astray”.
I invite you to listen attentively to the words of Jesus who openly takes the side of the sinner, represented by the lost sheep.
I invite you to contemplate also the reactions and gestures of Jesus motivated by this lost sheep:
1: He leaves the ninety-nine in the field.
2: He goes in search of the one that has gone astray.
3: He does not stop until he finds her.
4: He carries it on his shoulders with great joy.
5: He is happier to have found her than to have the remaining ninety-nine safe.
Contemplate these reactions and gestures of Jesus because all of them immerse you in the great and infinite mercy of God the Father.
The Father loves us to the utmost and continually seeks out those who stray from the path.
Today, understand that you are both sheep and shepherd:
* Sheep, because you need the mercy of the Good Shepherd.
* Shepherd, because you too must search for your lost brothers and sisters.
