Serving the Word: 27th October

THURSDAY 27th OCTOBER 2022

Luke 13, 31-35:

“Some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, “Go away from here, for Herod wants to kill you.” And he said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Today and tomorrow I will go on healing and casting out demons; the day after tomorrow I will come to my appointed time. But today and tomorrow and the day after I have to continue walking”.

Jesus upset the political and religious powers of his time. His words and actions are not always to the liking of the political and religious authorities.

But Jesus is clear about his mission. He came to teach us to be children of God and brothers and sisters to one another. He came to establish values that are the values of the Kingdom of God. And there is no threat that fear can stop his mission. He will always continue to heal and cast out demons. How hard it is for us to be witnesses of our faith in the midst of contradictions and difficulties! How often we shrink back when we have to be courageous and speak our word as Christians and believers! And how often we hide our Christian identity because we are afraid to stand out from the current and fashionable trend!

Pray today for so many Christians who are standing up for their faith even at the cost of their lives.

And pray also for yourself for the courage to be a courageous Christian.

Good day.
