WEDNESDAY 19th JANUARY 2022
Mark 3, 1-6:
“Jesus went into the synagogue again, and there was a man there whose hand was withered…. Jesus said to him, ‘Stand up and go there in the middle… stretch out your hand’… he stretched it out and his hand was restored”.
Once again we see another act of Jesus in which he restores lost dignity to a man who, because of his handicap, would have to beg for food.
And Jesus performed this in a sacred place: the synagogue. And at a sacred time: the Sabbath.
By this he indicates that what is really sacred for him is the human person.
And he says to the man: “Rise up! Which is the same as saying to him: “Resurrect’ . Because God does not accept anything that could mortify or degrade a person, or enslave destroy.
God wants for the person dignity, love, attention, hope, joy, health, etc.
Reflect today on those facets of your life that you could be stunted and place them before Jesus.
And he will say to you too: “Get up!” “Arise!”
And you can also meet today people who have had their hope, joy, their capacity to love and their capacity to forgive stunted.
Tell them by your actions what Jesus said to the paralysed man: “Get up, Go out into the middle. Stretch out your hand.”
Good day.
