Luke 9, 43b-45:
“Jesus said to his disciples, “Put these words into your hearts, The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men”. But they did not understand his words, it was so obscure to them that they did not understand the meaning. And they were afraid to ask him about it”.
It is also very difficult for us to understand the language of the Cross.
But the message of Jesus is very clear: “If anyone wants to be my disciple, let him take up his cross and come after me”.
The Cross is something we all run away from and would like to get rid of.
But the cross is something so essential to the Christian that we can never do without it.
Jesus will not take away the crosses we have to carry. But Jesus will certainly help us to carry the crosses we have.
Ask Jesus today to give you wisdom to understand his language.
May you never run away from the Cross but may he always give you the strength to carry it behind him.
Do not be afraid. With Jesus you can carry all the crosses that come your way.
