Serving the Word: Mt 6: 7-15

Matthew 6:7-15:
“You should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be held holy, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven those who are in debt to us. And do not put us to the test but save us from the evil one”.

You can pray by praying. But it could be that we pray without praying.
Sometimes we repeat words and words by rote, without realizing what each word means.
Jesus advises us today that in our prayer we do not use many words.
He encourages us to approach the Father with great confidence, calling on him simply and feeling that we are his children.
He also teaches us the words that express the deep feelings of all authentic Christian prayer: the Our Father. Praying with the Our Father puts us into the presence of God as Father, feeling likehis needful children and also feeling in brotherhood with every human being, children of the Father just like me.
Pray the Our Father today slowly tasting and savouring every phrase and each word.
Good day.
