WEDNESDAY 23 DECEMBER 2020
Luke 1, 57-66:
“The time came for Elizabeth to give birth, and she brought forth a son… John is his name… the hand of the Lord was with him”.
Today’s Gospel tells us about the birth of St. John the Baptist, the Precursor of Jesus.
John the Baptist was sanctified already in his mother’s womb before he was born.
The Gospel tells us that he leapt for joy when in his mother’s womb he heard the greeting that Mary addressed to Elizabeth.
And, from then on, his whole life was one of continuous jumping for joy before the Saviour.
He announced him, he pointed him out, he exalted him and finally he gave his life as a witness to the truth he was announcing.
Jump for joy too before the free salvation you are continually receiving from God and announce that salvation too so that many will jump for joy because of it.
We are approaching and we are already on Christmas Eve. May your joy overflow in such a way as to spread the Gospel to all those who deal with you and those around you.
Prepare yourself as best you can for the Birth of the Saviour.
Good day.
