Serving the Word: 21st October

THURSDAY 21st OCTOBER 2021

Luke 12, 49-53:

“I have come to set the world on fire, would that it were already burning!”.

Unfortunately, we are used to hearing news of fires that even kill people.

Today in the Gospel Jesus is presented as someone who also sets fire on earth.

But that fire is not the fire that kills but the fire of the Spirit that gives life.

Fire burns, purifies, illuminates, warms, and spreads its flame to everything it touches.

Fire does not stop, it tends to spread, to become great bonfires.

We are approaching the feast of St Anthony Mary Claret. A man on fire with the love of God who set everything he did and everything he lived for on fire with this love of God.

May you too be a person on fire. May you set on fire everything you touch with the fire of the Gospel.

Good day.
