Serving the Word: 1st February

Mark 6, 1-6:

“He could do no miracles there; he only cured some sick people by laying his hands on them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith. And he went about the surrounding villages teaching”.

It is very difficult for us to accept Jesus in simplicity and humility.

We like to see him more with haloes, cloaks and clouds than with a saw or a hoe in his hands.

This happened to his countrymen who saw him working with his hands in the workshop of St. Joseph.

They could not explain neither his wisdom nor his miracles.

God could not act through calloused hands.

They found it scandalous that one of their own should do what he did and say what he said.

Don’t look for God in the extraordinary things. Look for God in the ordinary things of life.

In the most everyday, common and ordinary things he will find you and you will find him.

Try to discover him today in the ordinariness of your day.

Good day to you.
