SATURDAY 19 DECEMBER 2020
Luke 1, 5-25:
“He shall go before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, preparing for the Lord a people well disposed.”
Advent is advancing and each day we are getting closer to the birth of Jesus.
And, once again, the figure of John the Baptist.
So as to make the power and initiative of God more palpable, John the Baptist will be born of an old and barren woman. For with God nothing is impossible.
Zechariah doubts, his faith is put to the test. He doubts and is silent until the child John is born. Then what the angel foretells is fulfilled: “You will be filled with joy and many will rejoice at his birth.”
For the birth of John is already a prelude to the birth of Jesus.
How many things are announced to you by the Lord. And you may also wonder and doubt like Zechariah.
Ask the Lord today that your faith may grow more and more. May you always be ready to listen to Him and may the Lord always find in you the willingness He expects.
You too will be filled with joy.
Good day.
