Serving the Word: 18th January

MONDAY 18th JANUARY 2021

Mark 2, 18-22:

“No one puts new wine into old wineskins; for the skins burst and the wine and the skins perish, but new wine into new wineskins.

To give us a sense of the relationship Jesus has with us, today’s Gospel uses the symbol of a wedding feast.
It is a relationship in which joy, hope and rejoicing reign? Being with Jesus Christ is always like being at a wedding, accompanying the bridegroom, who is Him, and therefore savouring that moment of joy, hope and happiness.
Being with Jesus can never lead us to sadness, quite the contrary.
Pope Francis tells us that with Jesus, joy is always born and reborn.
May your joy not be born from the surface or the ephemeral, but from your deep and profound relationship with Jesus Christ.
Do not doubt it, the deeper and more profound your relationship with Jesus, the deeper and more profound your joy will be.

Good morning.
