WEDNESDAY 17th FEBRUARY 2021
Matthew 6:1-6,16-18:
“When you give alms, do not go about blowing your trumpet before you. When you go to pray, go into your room, shut the door and pray to your Father who is in the secret place. When you fast, do not go about looking sad like the hypocrites, who disfigure their faces to make people see that they are fasting”.
Today we begin the Season of Lent. We begin a journey whose goal is EASTER.
As we receive the ashes, we will all be told today: ” repent and believe in the Gospel”.
This conversion calls for more almsgiving, more fasting, more prayer.
More alms for others, more fasting for oneself, more prayer for God.
* Fast from noises and distractions that prevent you from listening to the voice of your conscience and from meeting more deeply with God and with others.
* Give alms by giving yourself, from within. Share your qualities, your time, your goods, your life.
* Deal more with the Lord in this time of Lent. Do not fail to meet him daily in your daily time of prayer. Weekly in the Eucharist and often in the Sacrament of Forgiveness.
May the ashes imposed on your head today lead you to these good desires, “so that, dedicated with greater dedication to divine praise and fraternal love, you may arrive, with the joy of having purified yourself, at the solemnity of EASTER”.
Have a good Lenten journey.
Good day.
