Serving the Word: 16th December

WEDNESDAY 16 DECEMBER 2020

Luke 7, 19-23:

“Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the Gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who does not take offense at me.

We Christians of today are also sent many kinds of “emissaries” asking us who Jesus is.

We may answer by giving theoretical explanations that are of no use to those who ask us.

When Jesus receives those sent by John he does not answer by giving theories about his identity: “On that occasion Jesus healed many from diseases and infirmities and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind”.

And so he answered those envoys.

Announce who Jesus is, not with reflections, explanations or theoretical dissertations. Answer from your life and proclaim with your actions who Jesus is.

Let them also see who Jesus is because you also make real the words of the prophet Isaiah that Jesus applied to himself: “The blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the Gospel proclaimed to them.

Good day.
