Serving the Word: 15th September

THURSDAY 15th SEPTEMBER 2022

John 19, 25-27:

“When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved so much, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold your son.” Then he said to the disciple, ‘Behold, your mother”. And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home”.

This is Jesus’ crowning hour. It is the moment when from his side opened by the lance the Church will be born.

And Jesus, at that hour, wants to give us a Mother. He wants the Church, which is all of us, to be sheltered in the Heart of a Mother.

We are all represented in the Apostle John who receives Mary as his Mother at the foot of the cross and takes her home.

Today, on the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, remember that Mary is your mother and take her home to the house of your heart. Say to her these or similar words:

“O Virgin and Mother of God, I give myself as your child.

I consecrate myself to your motherly love so that you may form Jesus in me. Send me and make me a docile instrument of your motherly love.

Send me to proclaim the Gospel to all my brothers, who are also your children.

In you, my Mother, I have placed all my trust. I will never be confounded”.

Good day.
