Serving the Word: 15th December

WEDNESDAY 15th DECEMBER 2021

Luke 7, 19-23:

“Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the disabled walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not scandalised by me”.

We Christians today are also sent many kinds of “emissaries” asking us who Jesus is.

We may answer by giving theoretical explanations that are of no use to those who ask us.

When Jesus receives those sent by John, he does not answer by giving theories about his identity but on the basis of his actions: “On that occasion Jesus cured many of sicknesses, infirmities and evil spirits, and he gave sight to many who were blind”.

And thus Jesus answered those who were sent to him.

Announce who Jesus is not with reflections, explanations or theoretical dissertations. Answer from your life and proclaim by your actions who Jesus is.

Let them also see who Jesus is because you also make real the words of the prophet Isaiah that Jesus himself applied: “the blind see, the crippled walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the Gospel preached to them”.

Good day.
